Metrolina Control Line Society Meeting Minutes from 27 April 2024

Metrolina Control Line Society (MCLS) held their regular monthly meeting at the Waymer Flying Field in Huntersville, NC. Will Davis, Don Jenkins, and James McKinny were present. James got in a few flights with a fast combat plane and a Vector 40 he recently completed. Will and Don got in several flights as well. The Fling Aces RC Club had a workday and provide pizza for all.

The meeting was brought to order at 2:04 PM

Financial Report:

The club remains financially stable and has the funds available to supportcontrol line modeling for another year. The meeting minutes from our meeting in March were read and approved by those in attendance.

President’s Report:

1. Here is an updated list of upcoming contests and events:

• Joe Nall at Triple Tree, 10-17 May 2024. Stunt camp is on 16 May and a contest will be held on 17 and 18 May. Friday is N-30 and profile, and we will have the place to ourselves on Saturday for PAMPA competition with all skill classes.

• Brodak Fly-In, 10-15 June.

• US Nationals in Muncie, August 4-9.

• 2024 World Championship in Muncie, August 12-17.

• Canton Georgia Contest, September 13-15.

• KOI, McAlpin FL, September 27 – 29.

2. If you fly at Waymer Field get a Park Pass, and its time to renew your MCLS Membership! Dues remain at $20 so make your checks out to Don Jenkins or join via the Wacama Website.

Old Business:

1. MCLS had a decent turnout for the one-day contest in April and the wind calmed down nicely for the competition. The food provided by the Flying Aces RC club was delicious and it was an overall nice day of fellowship and flying stunt.

New Business:

1. WACAMA has taken action to work with the park and recreation folks and are getting some upgrades to the field. The entrance road and parking areas have been graded with new gravel and they have agreed to cut back the trees around the control line circles as well as treating for weeds and fire ants.

2. The next club meeting will be at the Waymer Flying Field on 24 May2024 at 2:00 PM.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:27 PM.

The Precision Aerobatics Model Pilots Association, Inc. (PAMPA) is recognized by the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) as a Special Interest Group (SIG) representing Control Line Precision Aerobatics (CLPA) enthusiasts on a national and international basis.
